H-Bridges Faculty of Electrical Engineering team wins world IEEE Competition

A team of students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, H-Bridges, represented the Faculty, the University of Belgrade and Serbia on the world’s largest university competition on a field of innovative and energy efficient solutions “International Future Energy Challenge 2019” (IFEC). As a part of the final leg of the competition at the University of Madison (Wisconsin), July 29-31, the H-Bridges team won first place. Our team was better than the following 9 in the grand final:

1. Delhi Technological University
2. DHBW – Stuttgart
3. Drexel University
4. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover
5. Khalifa University of Science and Technology
6. National Ilan University
7. Tsinghua University
8. Utah State University
9. Virginia Tech

The prototype electric bicycle developed by the Laboratory for Digital Management and Electric Vehicles of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has met each individual competition criterion. The team is the only one which pass all 15 tests without penalty points during the scoring. Even so, due to the intense competition, one discipline ultimately determined the winner, in which the team’s solution proved to be the best in terms of energy efficiency. After a series of presentations, experimental testing, both in laboratory and in real conditions (in the field in the form of a race), we can say with a great pleasure that in the next year our Faculty will proudly bear the worldwide recognition from the IEEE organization as the winner of the IFEC competition. The experts from the academy and industry (the leading American companies engaged in the development of e-bike solutions) participated in the project evaluation.

The successful student team: Filip Cvejic (team leader), Ruzica Cvetanovic, Lazar Nikolovski, Miodrag Joksimović, Emir Kacapor, Luka Knezevic, Jovana Cakic, Milos Jankov, Nevena Paramentic, Nikola Brankovic, Nevena Bugarcic, Milos Milesevic, Kristina Radovic, Silvester Forgo. Team mentors: Prof. Slobodan Vukosavic and assistant Aleksandar Milic.
Congratulations to the student team and the Faculty for their success came from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, numerous companies that have wholeheartedly helped the realization of the whole project, as well as other institutions and individuals.
